August is Perfect for Whale Spotting
What beautiful weather we are having here in Cairns !! With low winds, low humidity and great fresh temperatures (18-28 degree's Celsius each day) there couldn't be a better time to visit the magnificent tropical north !! Diving visibility is above 20 metre's at the moment, awesome at both day and night diving! Whales are being spotted every day by a variety of vessels, but if you really want to guarantee yourself to see them,, do the new tour,,,,, For $80 (adult, & $50 per child), we can guarantee you to see whales (we have a spotter plane looking out for them and relaying location details to the boat). If something drastic occurred and you did not see whales,, wait for it,, we will get you another "Free" ticket to go tomorrow or the next day,, basically when ever fits in with your itinerary. Not bad value for an inspiring day watching these magnificent, beautiful and intelligent creatures ☻For those with children,,,, why not head up to the tablelands and watch the Australian Muster Experience..... As an opening special, they are offering all kids travel for free with each paying passenger and with self drivers including lunch starting price at $63,, be quick,, this special won't last long. Have an awesome week. Emma ☻

Cairns Show Public Holiday
Today is the Cairns Show People's open day. Similar to a large country fair, the Cairns Show offers plenty for all different people,, from the animal shows to petting barns, to Show Bags packed full of goodies for small kids and big kids alike. (I will be buying the Darrell Lea Chocolate show bag - mmm Yum). Try your hand on a ride on the roller coaster or bumper cars, This year brings many new rides to excite and thrill. The Cairns show is held in the Show Grounds which border Mulgrave Road and Severin Street. Opening at 9.00am and closing at 9.00pm with a spectacular fireworks culmination at 8.30pm. If I may make a suggestion,, head over to the strawberry's and cream pavillion held inside the DeJarlais pavillion (inside showgrounds) to try some yummy locally grown tablelands fresh strawberry's and Dairy Farmers fresh cream - a hit with everyone!! You can catch a local bus or taxi from the centre of the mall in Cairns CBD that will take you to the showgrounds or if your feeling fit,,, perhaps a 30 minute walk from the Mall :)
Its a bit windy out on the reef at the moment with wind gusts reaching 20 knotts and upwards in some locations, make sure you ask if your pick of boats has a good location to head to on such a windy day, to avoid sea sickness and obtain best visibility!!
Have a Great Show Day All !!

Tuesday 14th
Well, Ive just had Miriam pop into the shop. Miriam just completed a skydive of 14,000ft and brought her dvd with her. I have to say, Jumping over Cairns has to be one of the most scenic and glorious views you could imagine, and with only 5-10knotts of winds out there, it was majestic!! Thanks Miriam for letting all of us office workers know how Awesome Skydiving in Cairns truly is. Personally, I have completed three jumps,, after watching the dvd,, its time for another :) Kids travel free on the pontoon with Great Adventures came out yestersday, so thats a massive saving during school holidays which will continue through until 24th july. Another customer spotted whales yesterday as he flew into Cairns,, and all this from his jumbo 747, another benefit of having Cairns Airport so close to the ocean and the city ! The low winds are set to continue for a few days, so if you've got time off - GET TO THE REEF! water temperature is still a lovely 26 degrees celcius and visibility with 5-10 knotts is between an awesome 20 - 25 metres ! Have a happy Bastille Day to all our French Friends

Well what a lovely weekend it was, Beautiful and sunny on Saturday and cool and relaxing on Sunday,, This week is looking great to head out to the reef!! With low winds snorkellers and divers alike will have maximum visibility. The water temperature at the moment is 26 degrees celcius so nice and cosy. Make sure you bring a light jacket for when your heading home in the afternoon though :) Michaelmas Cay this week is great value with kid travels for free with a paying adult deal, ring me on 0740516220 to get the best prices. Accommodation is getting harder to find with alot of Domestic holiday makers here in Cairns for the school holidays, so make sure you check at least 2-3 days in advance prior to arrival. Humidity is high today so we will probably have a bit of rain tonight, clearing to blue skies tomorrow. Have a great afternoon :) Emma

Friday 10th In Cairns
Being Friday there are plenty of options to do in Cairns, Its a perfect day for heading out to the world famous AJ Hackett Rainforest Tower to do a Minjin Swing. AJ Hackett has free transfers to and from the Tower four times a day. At 45meters high, you can actually see 22 nauticle miles off the coast of Cairns and see Green Island - an amazing view over the canopy of the Rainforest, and all this including two photos of your swing for $69 its great value for adrenaline seekers. Rafting the Barron River is also on special at the moment at $90 per person a saving of $16 each, departing from your accommodation in Cairns around 2pm and returning at 5.30pm with rafting on grade three rapids,, its an awesome adrenaline rush. For all the young at heart Bella Vista does two for one drinks at the Pier between 5 & 7pm on Fridays, a nice way to wind down at the end of the week whilst watching the reef boats return to the marina! For the weekend, Kuranda will have the markets on for visitors and tourists alike, or if you just prefer a few hours, how about having Breakfast with the Birds at Rainforest Habitat in Port Douglas. Alternatively, you could try Lunch with the Lorikeets - whatever your plans bring,, Have a great weekend :)

Winter in Cairns
Feeling Cold? Why not head to Cairns, capital of Far North Queensland! With a daily average winter temperature of 17-28 degrees Celsius (62 - 82 F) & low rainfall, it’s a perfect location for that winter holiday. The water on the Great Barrier Reef is currently 26 degrees Celsius (78F) so no need for a wetsuit! Currently there are ………..
- Plenty of Whale sightings at the moment with playful encounters with visitors reported on a daily basis.
- Rafting is on special at the moment in Cairns as is Skydiving (awesome experience).
- Reef Fishing is very good at the moment with plenty of bites around!
- Cape Tribulation is very lush at this time of the year with excellent weather in the 135 million year old rainforest!
- Mossman Gorge, one of the five purest and cleanest rivers in the world, although is a bit cold (for us) so we recommended a wetsuit for water activities. However, for those use to a cold climate it may be OK to do without.
We are located in the heart of Cairns, within walking distance from most accommodation properties. Shop 4, 20 Lake Street, pop in to see our monthly specials! PH: +617 4051 6220 & Email: celtictravel@live.com
